Following the announcement of a second lockdown throughout the United Kingdom, many of us are returning to working from home once again. However, whilst this switch will keep us safer from the COVID-19 virus, many are dreading the lack of a sustainable routine, and camaraderie of the office.
Regardless of your industry and whether you are a freelancer running a one-person show, or the leader or member of a larger team, a co-working space can greatly enhance both your professional and personal life, and bring back zest and enthusiasm into your work.
Going entirely digital does not work for all – whilst it allows us extra flexibility, it diminishes opportunities for wholesome networking and collaboration, which are both vital aspects of remaining productive and contribute to our mental and physical wellbeing. We cannot deny the fact that we are social creatures and yearn to be a part of a like-minded community, and that being able to share and gather feedback on our ideas can be incredibly helpful by allowing us to learn from one another and give our creativity a much-needed boost.

Working in a shared environment also allows us to be less distracted by our surroundings and gives us an opportunity for greater accountability of our use of time. It’s easy to get distracted by our home lives, especially if we live with our families or in a house-share, not to mention the myriad of opportunities to procrastinate which keep popping up – from deciding to do a full-house declutter to endless coffee and snack breaks. Things can get hectic – and co-working spaces are the perfect way to find a balance between ‘home’ and ‘work’ and set much-needed boundaries.
It is also important not to forget that many solo entrepreneurs and start-ups are currently operating at a very limited budget – and it is easy for our electricity and Internet bills to pile up on us when we are least expecting. Co-working spaces, such as Soho Studios, include the cost of those (as well as refreshments!) in membership plans and offer a stable and secure internet connection, too.
Another reason as to why we may benefit from working in a co-working space can simply be that we are becoming bored by working from home and need a change, fast. Adding a little variety and shaking up your routine is a great way to get yourself back on track once again.
If you are beginning to struggle with fatigue brought on by working from home, it may be a time for you to consider working from a co-working space. Soho Studios provides an excellent environment for you and your business, no matter how big or small, to truly thrive even through the toughest of times.
